Have you ever wondered if your headaches were caused by something you were putting on your body? Have you ever had a rash from using a certain makeup brand? Selenite Beauty was started from incidents such as these. Tiffany Parrish was having debilitating headaches in college…ones so bad that she had to take a semester off so that she could figure out why this was happening to her. Doctors told her that she had MS and Lupus(wasn’t true btw)…she was put on so many drugs to help her and was just still not feeling right. Finally after LOTS of research of her own, she found out she was extremely gluten and dairy intolerant and her headaches were actually caused by synthetic fragrances. Fragrances in a car, in a store, on someone that may have had on a certain perfume and gave her a hug….that are what were causing her to feel so bad.
Tiffany started off slowly removing things from her life that were causing her to feel so terrible….she was “peeling back the onion”. She started doing a ton on research on what went into things she was using. She told me that 3000 chemicals can hide under the word “fragrance” on a label. SAY WHAT?! She made it her mission to make her life less toxic.
Tiffany thought, if she could do this for herself, what could she be doing to help others? She was in finance and decided to leave her job and start Selenite Beauty. Let’s not forget, she has 3 kids in 5!!
First things first : This is a beautiful store. The feeling you get when you walk in, the light, the interiors….it is just stunning. Every corner was thought about and perfectly done. Selenite Beauty got its name from a crystal that removes negative energy and creates positive energy. They have beautiful chandeliers in the store that adorns these selenite crystals.
Selenite Beauty carries a ton of products from shampoo, to foundation, baby products to lipstick. Tiffany wanted to appeal to everyone – and let’s make one thing clear – she isn’t about NON TOXIC…she is about LESS TOXIC. So, if you want a lipstick that is less toxic, since you are basically eating it all day, go in and try a few things! Try a new less toxic serum if you are running out of yours. Let me tell you one thing, Tiffany is GORGEOUS and her skin in flawless. She is a testimony that these things WORK!
Another very important thing for Tiffany was to have a baby section. She wanted to set an example for her kids and use as many clean products as she could. They carry a variety of things for kids that are so cute and are products that will help your child to start their lives off as clean as possible. What more could we want for our kids?
Selenite Beauty opened online in November 2019. In February 2020, they opened their doors in South End….and then unfortunately had to close them a month later March from the Pandemic. They gradually started reopening in October 2020 and the Spa opened for business April 2022. Tiffany told me that the Spa is felt like the next natural step. Selenite Spa offers massages, facials, waxing, sound healing, beauty consultations and one on one yoga just to name a few!
I was lucky enough to get to try the 60 min Reiki Massage with Joe. It was incredible. Reiki promotes deep relaxation, stress reduction, and brings balance to the body. I was so relaxed, and really enjoyed learning about Reiki. I had no idea what to expect and all I can tell you was that I was very relaxed and wish I had a 90 min instead of 60 min massage! I also ended up buying the oil he used – it wasn’t greasy at all, smelled wonderful and gave this old dry skin of mine a pretty glow 😉
