In 2012, Leigh Goodwyn and her daughter were looking for some cute “dorm room” bedding. Her daughter was about to go to boarding school at Episcopal in 9th grade and she wanted her room to feel comfortable and more like home. There was very little to choose from besides Target and Walmart. You remember your college dorm room don’t you? BORING, BLAND, JUST Ew.
Leigh thought a headboard would help to make her bed/room feel more comfortable. She needed something she could fit in the car though. DING DING! A pillow headboard! Leigh then got to work. She had a seamstress make her daughter a pillow headboard and when others girls started noticing her daughters, moms were calling left and right to make one for their own daughter.
Leigh is from Gastonia, NC and grew up in a textile family. She knew people in the textile business who knew how to design fabrics, etc and she looked into digital printing. She realized that she was able to do so many prints! In 2014, LeighDeux was born.

Her first collection was preppy and young, much like her daughter and her friends. When she launched her website, she brought in a partner (another Leigh – hence the name!) and they started making the pillow headboard, duvets, dust skirts (those are key in boarding school/college rooms! I had my bed up on cinder blocks!), throw pillows and more.

She even has bedding for the boys/men! This is her son’s room at boarding school – nice right? You can also get the headboard pillows monogrammed – a great present for a senior!

Here is her sons room/living room at his house now in Chapel Hill. Masculine and great looking!
In 2018, Leigh’s partner left the business to take care of her family, and Leigh had the idea to do collaborations with some talented people around Charlotte. Her first was with Blair Z a fashion artist. The next was with interior designer Holly Phillips. They made a line called Bright Eyes and Bushy Tails. She has done a Monarch Collection with local artist, Laura Park. She also has a collection called The Pucker Collection and Lips like Sugar which is with Elizabeth Bryant who won a textile design challenge that they put on during her sophomore year at Chapel Hill – how cool is that?? She has 9 collections now and each one is special in it’s own way!
Another fun collection that she did was with actress/supermodel Angie Harmon, called the Skull Collection. This is one of my favorites – so fun, spunky and shows Angles love of skulls! They made throw pillows, canvases, bean bags, iphone cases, masks, the BEST yoga mats, and towels. Check out her collection here.

LeighDeux puts out 1-2 collections a year and this year it is the Laura Park and Toile collection. If your child is going to Chapel Hill, you NEED THIS!!
Here is the beautiful new Laura Park Collection – you can’t go wrong here – so gorgeous!! All of their bedding is 100% made in America and sewn and printed in the USA and all prints can be mixed and matched which is so great.

LeighDeux’s towels are such a great gift for seniors as well. I have two and I love them! They are big, they don’t pill, they are packable, which is a huge plus because towels can take up so much space and these fold well and don’t take up much space at all! They are great prices from $52-60. Look at all the cute prints and I put together a few of my favorites 😉

When the pandemic hit, Leigh wanted to have a way to keep business going but also help people in need. On April 4th, 2020 she started producing masks and it was a HIT. She was very early in the game! Sh gave away 100% of the profits to First Responders Children’s Foundation and was able to give them a check for $20,000!! They have dozens of prints and all colleigent colors – another great gift to add on to these seniors pillows in case they will be wearing them to class come the fall!
Go check out LeighDeux and check out the ways that you can decorate your kids dorm room in a fashionable and affordable way – girls AND boys! I sure wish she had been around when I went to college 😉 This is Leigh below, isn’t she gorgeous?
