When my kids were young, Jack and I hardly ever traveled. We missed out on a lot of 40th birthdays and couple trips. We never seemed to be able to go at the time – it was hard to find someone to watch our kids, financially it didn’t make sense, yada yada yada, always an excuse. When the pandemic hit, we began to look at life differently. We realized that we only live once and we need to enjoy it while we can. I wanted to say YES to trips. I wanted to plan more weekends with the people who I love and make me happy. Since the pandemic, I have gone to Arizona with girlfriends, Kiawah, Miami and now Palm Beach. Once or twice a year is perfect and just what the doctor ordered. You come back refreshed (well, kinda! Lots of drinks later…)and with your heart full 😉 Jack and I need to make more time to do that for the two of us too.
Below is a recap of our amazing weekend with two of my best girlfriends! Elizabeth and Steph have been doing life with me for 12+ years now – our boys are just a few weeks apart and Jack actually grew up with Elizabeth. They are a huge part of my “village” and what keeps me sane 😉 We were talking one day a few weeks ago and Steph had the idea to go to PB for the weekend because it is such an easy, quick flight. Elizabeth and Steph had been there before, so they knew where to stay and what to do. They both raved about it, so I was game!

We stayed at The Colony Hotel which is gorgeous, girly and fun. Pink everywhere! We had lunch at the hotel restaurant Swiftys, which is right by the pool and has the most gorgeous atmosphere.

We had two bottles of sparkling rose to kick off the weekend and went to the room to get changed to come back by the pool for a bit before dinner. My birthday was the next day, so sweet Jack sent a bottle of champagne and flowers to the room – finally after 14 years have trained him well! hahah!

Then we had reservations at Buccan for dinner – so much fun – another bottle of champagne and we were feeling realllll good 😊

How cute is this golf cart that took us to dinner and picked us up??
Saturday was rough for me. I woke up on my birthday around 6am with a bug. I couldn’t keep much in and it wasn’t fun. I didn’t want the girls to stay in the hotel room with me, so they went to lunch and did some shopping. After some meds, I got a little better and met them on Worth St, which is a famous shopping street – beautiful stores and architecture. I wasn’t 100% but tried to rally!

I think my stomach could only handle laying down for a bit, so we headed back to the pool and FINALLY I started to feel like myself! We just chilled and talked, got a snack and a few drinks for them and it was just perfect. The perfect breeze and just what the doctor ordered.

The girls really wanted to take me to The Breakers Hotel for a drink before dinner – they had both stayed there and said it was incredible. It was. Stunning, beautiful, HUGE and just something to see. We had a drink in the bar and then headed to dinner.

We then headed to a late dinner at Le Bilboquet – gorgeous setting and dinner was delish. I had to sip on a small glass of red wine and get the cleanest chicken, but again, still very good. The girls shared tuna, brussel sprouts, risotto and Elizabeth had the “best gazpacho she has ever had in her life.” So, except for the 8 hours of my little bug, it ended up being a great birthday.

We decided to fly out later in the day on Saturday so we didn’t have to rush and could have almost a full day. We had a smoothie at the little coffee shop in our hotel and laid out by the pool until check out. One more amazing lunch at Swiftys and we were out. Promise to come back. This was a special weekend and one I will never forget!
