This past weekend I went to Miami with some girlfriends and Lord, did we had a GOOD time!! I said I would never go back to Miami after being there for a few hours at spring break, but this trip was already planned and I saw whole different side to it. This trip did NOT include Ocean Drive.
Our husbands had planned this KEYS 100 run for 2020 and it obviously was cancelled. The wives were planning on going and were just going to meet them at the finish line in Key West. When it changed to 2021, one of the husbands said no wives and one wife said “screw that, we will just go to Miami for the weekend while you guys run”. I won’t name names, but her name rhymes with Shelizabeth. 😉 Thank God she spoke up because we had the best time!!

We stayed at the 1 Hotel Miami and it was so beautiful!!! Elizabeth had been here a few times and said it was the place to stay. We didn’t waste any time and went straight to the rooftop and started our weekend off right with some drinks and appetizers.

From the difference in the pics, you can probably tell that we stayed at the rooftop all day! The boys were checking in, getting their van, decorating it, etc. We were definitely winning!
After 85 bottles of Rose, we got ourselves together and went to Chotto Matte for dinner. It was beautiful inside but we felt like it wasn’t a lot of food for the $ Therefore – more drinks, not much food = tooooo much fun.

Saturday was beautiful and we started off with breakfast and then hit the beach. The boys started their 100 mile race at 5:45 am!!

The 1 Hotel is so gorgeous – I wish we had more time to explore, but what we saw was just beautiful! We had lunch right in the hotel – how cool is this part of it? This was in between the pools and the beach.
Meanwhile…. the boys are running in 97 degree heat, Jack threw up at some point from the heat, but they are also having so much fun with one another and cheering each other on. We were cheersing TO them! ha!
As they were running to Key West, we were walking to the pool for the afternoon. Everyone at this place had an amazing body…. I couldn’t believe how in shape everyone (well, mostly the women) was. At the end of the day, we met Chris, who was from Charlotte and he was so cute! If you go to the hotel, ask for him – he went to Audrey Kell and was super sweet.

We then got ourselves together after some porch talking and went to dinner in the hotel – it was amazing! They had live music and the food was delicious.

Meanwhile, while we ate and drank, the guys WON their age range for the race! It was so exciting!

Miami is a whole different world….what a fun getaway with these girls! On Sunday when we got home, it didn’t take but 30 mins to text the guys and tell them to figure out their next relay race – we are in!…for the drinking and eating part that is 😉
