Erin McDermott is a name you know in Charlotte. She is well known Charlotte jewelry designer. She is young, fun, creative, a mother of 3 beautiful girls, and you just want to be her friend. I connected with Erin years ago when she reached out to me to model for her and I was so excited…….except I didn’t have pierced ears!!!!! Well, all that has changed since last week (ears are pierced!!) and Erin is the first person I wanted to go see and get some new earrings!

Erin started making jewelry in college at UVA and sold her stuff to sorority sisters, friends of friends and ended up spending a semester in New York at FIT learning how to make all kinds of jewelry. She came home and started selling at the well known, huge Farmers Market in Charlottesville. She had so much success that she did it every weekend starting at 5am setting up her booth and making a name for herself. Her style was accessible, comfortable, things that wouldn’t ever go out of style and affordable. She is a tee shirt and jeans girl like me, and likes to change up her jewelry all of the time.

When she moved to Charlotte, she ended up giving up her teaching career and making jewelry full time…all while having 3 little girls! She started with a website, she flew back and forth to NYC making friends with vendors and digging through the fashion district looking for beads and things that were her style. YOUR style. When instagram was the new thing, she started selling on there and now sends about 1000 orders out a week!!
One of my favorite parts about Erin’s business is that you can come to her home. You can host your daughters birthday party in her studio and make bracelets. earrings or necklaces. You can have a girls night with wine and be creative. If you bought a new dress and had no clue what jewelry to wear with it, you welcome at her studio to come in, have a glass of wine, try on things and Erin is there to help! Talk about customer service!!!
